In his addresses to the General Debate of the 79th Session of the General Assembly of the UN,  US President Joe Biden stressed in his speech to world leaders yesterday that the United Nations the needs to “stop arming the generals” and “end the war in Sudan now”. He underscored that eight million people are on the brink of famine, with hundreds of thousands already suffering.

President Biden called on the warring parties to allow aid agencies to reach those in need. He began the section devoted to Sudan in his speech to the UN General Assembly by reminding world leaders that the war in Gaza is not the only crisis in the world, and reminded them of the situation in Darfur and other parts of Sudan.
