General calls for expelling UNAMID

KHARTOUM (12 Mar.) – A military expert called for the expulsion of the international joint peacekeeping force in Darfur (UNAMID). Retired Major General Muhammad Abbas told Radio Dabanga the government should expel the UNAMID because they fell into an ambush of one of the rebel movements in the Jebal Marra last week and gave their weapons to the armed movement.

Likewise, the political secretary for the Popular Congress Party (PCP) Kamal Omar said that summoning the mission aims at reducing and containing the role of the mission. This paves the way for expulsion in the future.
