Sheikh of Kalma IDP camp asks for postponing elections

KALMA (15 Mar.) – Sheikh Ali Ibrahim al Tahir of Kalma camp called on the government to postpone the elections to allow displaced people to reregister as voters.

KALMA (15 Mar.) – Sheikh Ali Ibrahim al Tahir of Kalma camp called on the government to postpone the elections to allow displaced people to reregister as voters. Al Tahir told Radio Dabanga that most registered in Darfur were brought from outside the region.

Fouad Hikmat of the International Crisis Group said that delaying the elections from April to November would give a chance for political actors to solve the problems of Sudan and notably the Darfur problem.
