West Darfur quarrel about nomination of governor candidate
Dissatisfaction and squabbles were the only result that came out of a meeting of the National Congress Party (NCP) in El Geneina, West Darfur. The meeting was initially aimed at nominating candidates for the post of governor in the region but they were divided into two groups. Members of the NCP and the civil administration engaged in internal competitions. Each group promoted its own candidate. Informed, credible sources indicated that representatives of the civil administration would choose Sultan Saad Abdel Rahman Bahr Aldin as the only real candidate for the post. The other groups said they support former Governor Jaffar Abdul Hakam, Sultan Hashim Mohammed Hashim, Dr. Al Sanusi Bashr or Abdullah Altilib.

The sources told Radio Dabanga that the supporters of the Sultan are unhappy with his political status and to some extent unimpressed with the mechanism for the selection of candidates. All West Darfur’s candidates left to Khartoum for the definitive nomination by the NCP.
