Sudan earned 4 billion dollars less in oil revenues last year

According to the Government of Southern Sudan Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, the total oil revenue of the Sudan in 2009 from oil resources in the South were 2.6 billion US dollars. The share of the Government of Southern Sudan was just over 1 billion dollars. The total reportedly transferred from Khartoum to the Government of Southern Sudan was higher, at $1.77525 million, which included the settlement of arrears. The figures were reported in the latest Report of the UN Secretary-General on the United Nations Mission in the Sudan. Owing to declines in oil prices in the first half of 2009, annual oil revenues were US $4 billion less than in 2008. In January 2010, the Government of Southern Sudan received oil revenue transfers of $120.73 million, with $82.22 million from exports. Non-oil revenue collection in Southern Sudan remains relatively minor. According to the Government of National Unity Ministry of Finance and National Economy, a total of $18.86 million was collected in 2009, an increase over the $15.5 million in 2008.
