Tensions still high after student fight at University of Nyala

Students at the University of Nyala said that the university has “turned into a military barracks.” Police and student supporters of the National Congress Party yesterday entered the campus with weapons and prohibited political activity by any university organization. This follows a fight between NCP and opposition student supporters on Sunday, which resulted in several injuries and five arrests. The arrested students have been released while the injured ones were taken to Nyala hospital. One student said the students have left the university in order to preserve their lives. He added that many students of technical faculty boycotted their exams and left the university. The university administration has remained silent.
