Farmers object grazing of herds on lands around Kutum

Pastoralists grazed their livestock heavily on farms surrounding Kutum, at a distance of one kilometer from the city, ever since the second day of Eid Al Adha. This caused heavy losses to farmers in those areas, who appealed to the government to intervene immediately to stop the infringement on their farms prior to harvesting. A witness told Radio Dabanga that farmers and herders clashed on Sunday. A farmer from Kutum named Samir was injured in a shooting by herders. Speaking on Radio Dabanga, a farmer appealed to herders to contain their livestock until the completion of the harvest and the date when the fields will be open to cattle.
