JEM says grave in Sudan’s North evidence of mass execution of its members

The Justice and Equality Movement said that the bodies in the mass grave found in Northern State had been members of the movement. The Darfuri rebel group demanded an international investigation.Twenty-five bodies of black men, apparently shot dead, were found by gold prospectors near Argo in Northern State, witnesses told Radio Dabanga recently. The bodies were found in a sealed chamber, laid out in 2 rows, one row of 13 bodies and the other of 12.

The Justice and Equality Movement alleged that the dead men had been members of the rebel group whom the security services had executed after the raid events in Omdurman in 2008, when JEM fighters reached nearly to the presidential palace. Ahmed Hussein Adam, spokesman for the movement, said that they believe that those in the grave had been executed after the May 2008 raid. In an interview, Hussein demanded an international investigation into the incident to prove that the ‘Salvation’ government kills prisoners.
