The men arrested for talking to the UN Security Council delegation led by Ambassador Susan Rice are still in jail. The UN diplomats came to Darfur for two days and left. The delegation included all 15 ambassadors of the UN Security Council members states.
The men arrested for talking to the UN Security Council delegation led by Ambassador Susan Rice are still in jail. The UN diplomats came to Darfur for two days and left. The delegation included all 15 ambassadors of the UN Security Council members states.The jailed men are: Abdullah Isaag Abdelrazig, a teacher; Mohamed Abdullah Al Haj, a taxi driver; and Mohamed Tabin Dai Al Nur, one of the omdas (tribal elders) of Al Salaam Camp. They are being held by the security service in Factories District in El Fasher, ever since the visit of the UN Security Council members last October.
Members of Abu Shouk camp said that Mr. Abdullah Abdelrazig was arrested on 11 October, while Mohamed Abdullah was arrested after making a speech to UN Security Council members while they were inspecting the camp on the morning of 9 October, and the Omda Dai Al Nur was arrested on the 17th of the same month. Radio Dabanga learnt that the security agencies prevented the detainees’ families from visiting them, which raised fears for their safety.
