Man shot dead in Kass, officials say ‘hardened criminals’ on rampage
Authorities in Kass Locality in South Darfur said that a group of hardened criminals have organized themselves into a network and since the beginning of the month of September so far they have carreid out 40 cases of theft, involving the looting of 750 head of cattle, and killing dozens of people.
Authorities in Kass Locality in South Darfur said that a group of hardened criminals have organized themselves into a network and since the beginning of the month of September so far they have carreid out 40 cases of theft, involving the looting of 750 head of cattle, and killing dozens of people.Ibrahim Muda, the MP representing Kass in the Legislative Assembly, called on competent authorities to extend control to areas to deter these criminals. Speaking over Radio Dabanga, he called on citizens to immediately report these criminals and not allow them to pass through their villages.
In an incident in the locality last Friday, an armed group killed the civilian Saeed Abdullah Harran, from the village Tabo Fato, north of Kass Town. A relative of the victim told Radio Dabanga that an armed group stole a camel from the late Saeed Harran, and shot him dead as he attempted to pursue them. The source said that another group of pursuers managed to recover the stolen camel.
Kass Locality was contested in 2010 between elements of warring Arab tribes.
