Central Reserve soldiers attacked two doctors at the El Fasher Hospital on Sunday. Members of the government militia, known locally as ‘Abu Tira’, entered the hospital accompanied by officers. They went to the surgery ward, where they were asked to leave by doctors on duty. The militia refused to leave and severely beat Dr. Tayeb Mohamed Ibrahim.
Medical professionals in El Fasher are currently treating only emergency cases, during two hours per day, because they are on strike. In a statement calling for continuing strike, health workers condemned the attack and called for regulations and laws to protect doctors on duty.
