Police and security forces arrested 41 student protesters on Monday and Tuesday from within Shendi University in Nile River State.
Police and security forces arrested 41 student protesters on Monday and Tuesday from within Shendi University in Nile River State.The students were protesting the absence a student union for the last four years. A lawyer for the students said that the university administration called on the public order force which arrested 38 students on Monday, including a female student who was released.
Twenty-six students have been transferred to Shendi prison after charges of disturbance, disrupting the peace and other charges were filed against them. Eleven were reportedly tortured in the office of the security bureau before being turned over to the police in addition to 4 who were arrested on Tuesday, also from within the university.
