Floods in South Darfur, eastern Chad
Diversion of Wadi Bilal submerges Tulus, heavy rains in eastern Chad cause damage in Jebel refugee camp A diversion in the course of the Wadi Bilal river has resulted in flooding of the city of Tulus in South Darfur on Wednesday. Fallata Mohammed Adam, the mayor of the city, told Radio Dabanga that the overflowing water in the valleys have destroyed at least 300 homes and caused loss of property estimated at half a billion Sudanese pounds. According to him, citizens whose houses collapsed as a result of the floods sought refuge in schools and government facilities. The mayor demanded that the course of the river be diverted and food and shelter be provided to all those affected in Tulus.
