Protesting against attacks by three policemen on their colleague

Doctors in South Darfur’s Kubum hospital went on a complete strike on Sudan to protest over the attack on a doctor by police personnel. A citizen of Kubum told Radio Dabanga that three policemen had raided the hospital last week and beat one of the doctors, who was later taken to the police station. The doctor was not released until a bail was issed three days later.

The strike organized by the doctors and the hospital staff is meant to show solidarity towards their fellow colleague who was atatcked.

“The health situation in the region is precarious especially after the strike called by the doctors. We’d like to call on to the authorities to address the situation as soon as possible,” the citizen said on terms of anonymity.

One of the doctors confirmed the incident in the hospital and described it as a conspiracy claiming that the clinic’s medical director and lab technician would not resume to work unless the problem is solved and the situation shows drastic improvement.

Doctor’s in South Darfur’s Nyala hospital had also gone on strike earlier this year to demand better working conditions.
