Six refugees raped in North Darfur

A group of gunmen raped six refugees in south Kabkabiya, North Darfur on Wednesday.The incident took place in Shoba region, south of Kabkabiya, where the women had been to the farms to collect firewood. Relatives of the women told Radio Dabanga that they had been tied up with ropes after the incident and left in the woods.


They were able to escape only the next morning when one of them untied herself and helped others escape.


The victims complained to the commissioner of Kabkabiya who said in turn that he couldn’t get hold of the perpetrators as they would have already fled.


Beating in east Kabkabiya


In a separate incident, in Kamong area in east of Kabkabiya, six armed men beat four women. The armed men, who were riding horses, also took away one donkey belonging to the victims.


Refugee kidnapped


On the other hand, unidentified persons kidnapped a refugee from west of Kabkabiya on Monday. The kidnapped, Abdullah Haroon — a taxi driver – was on an assignment to drop off some passengers in Margobah.


Midway through the journey, the passengers, held him at gunpoint, tied him up and left him in an unknown place, where he remained confined for two days.


After being released on Wednesday, he returned to the city and found all his belongings missing, including spare parts of his car.
