A group of dissident members from the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) concluded its conference in eastern Jebel Marra on Friday and announced the formation of a new opposition force, calling themselves the Sudan Liberation Movement for Justice (SLMJ).Moses Taj Din, also known as Delam has been elected as the chairperson of the group, while Ali Abdulla Kerubina was choses as the commander in chief. Mohammed Ahmed Ikaub, spokesperson of the SLMJ told Radio Dabanga that they will soon been joining the Kauda Alliance. The Kauda Alliance is a coalition formed by various opposition groups in Darfur that have resolved to topple the government in Khartoum.

The group includes Abdel Wahid and Minni Minnawi factions of the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA-AW, SLA-MM) as well as the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).

‘Impose no-fly zone’

The SLMJ called for the international community to enforce a no-fly zone in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions. It also urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to book the ‘perpetrators of war crimes’ in Sudan.

President Omar Al Bashir, South Kordofan governor Ahmed Harun and alleged Janjaweed leader Ali Kushayb have been indicted by the ICC in the Hague for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.

Spokesperson Mohammed Ahmed Ikaub also pleaded for relief for affected people in Darfur and unity of the opposition armies with political forces and civil society organizations. He said this would enable building a country which would be democratic and pluralistic instead of the current government in Khartoum.
