Educator had ‘no enemies’, according to teacher The headmaster of a primary school in Shagra village was shot to death by an armed gang. Suleiman Barima Hussein, the headmaster of Shagra Eltadamoun school, located about 15 kilometers from El Fasher, was gunned down by four armed men on Sunday.
A female teacher and colleague of the deceased told Radio Dabanga that Hussein was hit by five bullets near Shagra village. She stated that before his assassination he had gone to the rural administration building in El Fasher to submit the names and fees of the students who will be sitting for the national primary examinations this year. She described the deceased as one of the best teachers with no enemies. She called the killing ‘strange’, attributing it to the targeting of education and teachers in Darfur.
The victim’s assistant Abdul Rahman Adam Elnour was also targeted by the assailants, and he sustained serious injuries as a result of being beaten with sticks, leading to his transfer to El Fasher hospital for treatment.
