Renowned Darfuri singer Omar Ehsaas sings a song of love for Darfuris
Omar Ehsaas, one of Darfur’s most renowned singers, called on the people of Darfur to strive towards unity, peace and tolerance on the eve of Eid Al-Adha, which falls on Sunday.
Ehsas, who is at the Arafa mountain in Haj and undertaking the pilgrimage, told Radio Dabanga that he would like to pray for love and lasting peace in Darfur on the occasion of Eid. Ehsas also sang a song for the Darfuris on the festive day.
S Darfur government bans weapon use
Meanwhile, in South Darfur, the government prohibited any use of arms by civilians on the day of Eid.
Traditionally, Sudanese people fire shots in the air to bring in the day of Eid. The deputy governor of South Darfur, Abdul Kari Moussa announced on Friday that he would take strict legal action against those citizens who engage in such activities during the festive season. He asked citizens to report such incidences to the local authorities.
