The Office of Humanitarian Affairs says the fighting continues to force civilians to fleeThe number of people fleeing from Sudan’s southern Blue Nile state has reached 60,000 people, a report issued by the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOHA) said on Friday.The displacement comes as result of constant fighting between the Sudanese armed forces and the opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) in the state since September 1, 2011.According to the report, the continued confrontations are still forcing civilians to flee and exposing them to serious damage. The latest air strikes launched by the Sudanese Air Force (SAF) on November 12 have left several dead and many wounded.The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said last week that about 1, 200 people had fled Blue Nile state to South Sudan’s Upper Nile state.
