‘Haroun survives SPLA attack’

Elsawarmi Khalid, spokesperson of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), announced on Friday that Ahmed Haroun , governor of South Kordofan, had survived an attack by the opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) in the region of Alatamor.Col. Khalid also added in a statement released by Elrai Elaam (Public Opinion) newspaper which is affiliated to the government that during Haroun’s visit to Alatamor, the SPLA launched attacks to take control of the region. Col. Khalid stated that the SAF was able to repel the attack and move the governor to a safer place.On the other hand, the SPLA released a statement saying that it has taken over Alatamor and defeated the SAF by chasing it out of the region and to Kadugli.
