Zam Zam camp desperately needs medical supplies
An activist from Zam Zam internally displaced people (IDP) camp said residents desperately require medical assistance. The camp, home to around 220,00 people is reportedly lacking in emergency supplies of medicines. At night, there is no medical support or medical personnel available to tend to the needs of the residents, and patients requiring care are not permitted to travel outside the camp to the hospital in El Fasher at that time, said the witness. There are only a small number of medicines from El Fasher hospital to last for Saturday and Sunday. Patients will go without from Monday to the following Saturday, stated the activist. 260 children have been diagnosed with Al-Azar disease and require injections. But there are no refrigerator facilities in Zam Zam camp to house the injections, so they have remained in El Fasher, said the witness to Radio Dabanga.
