JEM appoint acting president

The Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) announced officially on Tuesday the replacement of the late Khalil Ibrahim to be Tahir Al Faki, President of JEM’s Legislative Council. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, the secretary of presidential affairs Mansour Arbab Younis said according to JEM’s statutes, the President of the Legislative Council will head the movement for 60 days in the absence or death of the leader. During this 60 days the group will decide and elect a new president to replace Khalil Ibrahim. JEM call for investigation into leader’s death Al Hadi Burma, JEM secretary for law and justice said that the movement calls on the United Nations Security Council for an international investigation to probe the assassination of Khalil Ibrahim. Burma said the Sudanese government does not have the technology to carry out such a targeted strike, and must have had outside assistance. Kalma camp reacts A humanitarian coordinator for Kalma internally displaced persons’ camp said residents strongly condemn the killing of the JEM leader and the rallies by government supporters that celebrated Khalil Ibrahim’s death. He said that the celebrations are against the ethics of Islamic and moral values, as well as against Sudanese culture.
