Security interfere with gas sales in North Darfur

Security services are preventing fuel consumption in North Darfur and some areas of South Darfur, a witness said to Radio Dabanga. Since last Monday, the authorities in North Darfur reportedly deployed elements of the security and military intelligence services to gas stations to control the sales of gasoline only to people with written permission from the authorities. This has caused prices to rise further, as everyday goods are not moving freely around the area, said a citizen. Markets in North Darfur are also experiencing a scarcity of wheat and other goods along side the price rises, said a source. Since recent events between the government and the Justice and Equality Movement, many goods have not arrived in El Fasher, as the road from Omdurman to El Fasher is being heavily regulated by security. A sack of wheat has risen to 270 Sudanese pounds whilst a large jerrycan of maize oil has reached 109 pounds, said the source.
