UN: ‘alarming malnutrition’ amongst displaced
On Wednesday the UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos, said the international organization received disturbing reports of ‘alarming malnutrition’ in South Kordofan and Blue Nile. The UN estimates 417,000 people have fled from their homes due to fighting between the government forces and Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-North). They said refugees can be found in Ethiopia, South Sudan, and many people are displaced within Blue Nile and South Kordofan. Residents also remain exposed to air strikes and scattered ground battles.
