Nine women raped by Abu Tira forces
Elements of Abu Tira forces (Central Reserve Forces) reportedly raped nine South Sudanese female refugees in Al Lait Jar Al Nabi in North Darfur in the past week. A relative of one of the victims told Radio Dabanga that Abu Tira forces attacked the neighbourhood Sheikh Ad Jack looting money and valuable posessions from households before kidnapping four women on Monday night. The women were returned the following day in a traumatised state. The next day Abu tira returned raiding more houses and stealing more valuables before taking five women to their headquarters. The women were raped and again returned to the neighbourhood the next day. Relatives of the women reported the incident to the city police. The head of police sympathised with the women and raised the case with the Commissioner who asked them for details. Offences by Abu Tira are often difficult to investigate by regular police as the armed group operates outside the law. The Commissioner said he was dedicated to investigating the case and promised to take it up with the Governor of North Darfur, Osman Yousef Kibbir.
