Bembry refugee camp facing food and water shortages
Refugees at Bembry camp in the Central African Republic complained of a lack of access to food, water and medicine as well as the imposition of fees from local authorities. A witness told Radio Dabanga refugees have not received food rations for more than two months and are facing an acute shortage of drinking water after two out of three water pumps stop working, along with a lack of shelter and medical assistance. The authorities of the Central African Republic have also reportedly imposed large fees on refugees traveling outside the camp to go to markets or clinics. He appealed to authorities to waiver the fees for refugees and for humanitarian organisations to provide urgently needed assistance.
