Fire destroys homes in East Darfur camp
A large fire broke out at El Naeim internally displaced persons camp in Daein locality, East Darfur destroying more than 80 homes. A witness told Radio Dabanga the fire broke out just before Friday prayers causing widespread destruction of shelter and some injuries amongst residents that tried to extinguish the fire. He said the cause of the fire remains unknown; and there are more than 500 people now living exposed without shelter or humanitarian assistance. A camp representative said the fire spread as camp residents could not put it out, and there was no access for vehicles to get to take water to the site.
