Security services report release of Darfuri student
Security authorities have reportedly released Muhammed Idriss Gedo, President of the Darfur Association of Students, detained in January this year. Amid various reports of his torture and deteriorating health, on Saturday, security sources told the Sudanese media center that Gedo was released, but the Darfur Association of Students denied this. They described news of Gedo’s release as misleading, and said Gedo has not been released but moved from Khartoum to a different prison with no access to lawyers or his family. The students appealed to management at the University of Khartoum to immediately intervene to release Muhammed Idriss Gedo.He was arrested following a series of protests at the University of Khartoum late last year.
