Detained student’s mother appeals for his release
The mother of the detained student and president of the Darfur Students Association Muhammed Idriss Gedo has appealed to authorities to release him immediately.
Gedo was detained at the beginning of January this year, and has reportedly been transferred from security service headquarters to a prison in River Nile state, north of Khartoum.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Zam Zam camp, Mariam Tryo Minnawi said Gedo is the main breadwinner after the death of her husband, and pointed out her son sends her his expenses earned from holiday or part time work.
She said she does not know his whereabouts or the state of his health.
Gedo’s mother appealed for human rights and humanitarian organisations to assist in the release of her son.
