Two women from Armenkol camp raped by militia
A militia loyal to the government raped two displaced women from Armenkol camp of Sirba locality in Western Darfur. A relative of the victims told Radio Dabanga the armed group attacked a group of eight women on Saturday. The women were traveling to camp Gaga in eastern Chad. Six of them managed to escape, but two women got captured by the militia. The relative said they were repeatedly raped before being released on Sunday morning. The women who escaped reported the incident to the police, but the police claimed they have no authority to control the militia in that area. The relative, a resident of camp Armenkol, added he is familiar with the militia. They are known in the camp for stealing from residents, refusing to pay at stores and harassing women and girls.
