Gunmen accused of raping 2 displaced women
A group of gunmen reportedly attacked and raped two displaced sisters from Mornei camp in West Darfur on Sunday, 30 December. A witness told Radio Dabanga that the gunmen on camels in military uniforms attacked the two sisters while they were collecting wood in the area of Jebel Salma, at about 3 kilometers from the camp on Sunday.The sisters were raped alternately and not released until the following day. The witness added that the incident has not been reported to UNAMID, as it first needs to be reported to the Sudanese police. He called upon humanitarian and human rights organizations to intervene and protect the displaced from attacks by herders ‘armed by the government’.
