ICRC transfers 4 Sudan soldiers from Khor Abeche to Nyala
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday facilitated the transfer of four soldiers of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to Nyala, capital of South Darfur. The troops had been captured by elements of the Sudan Liberation Movement for Justice (SLMJ of Karbino) and released in Khor Abeche in South Darfur, the movement disclosed to Radio Dabanga. SLJM spokesman Mubarak Mohamed Ahmed said three soldiers had been abducted in Dobbo El Madrasa, East Jebel Marra, and the other in Labado. Last week, the movement published the names of three officers its forces captured during combats in Dobbo. Adil Sharif of ICRC informed Radio Dabanga the SAF troops were transferred by helicopter to Nyala where they were received by Sudanese authorities. He added ICRC first interviewed the officers in private to ensure the transfer happened according to their will. Just days ago ICRC flew 14 SAF soldiers from Labado to Nyala, and weeks before the organization supported the release of 31 displaced persons captured by rebel forces in Darfur.
