Woman dies as militiamen ambush passengers in Central Darfur

A woman from Kass camp was shot dead when armed “pro-government militiamen” opened fire on a commercial vehicle carrying passengers in Central Darfur. The incident occurred on the road from Kass to Thur on Monday. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that 12 armed men on motorcycles ambushed the truck in Khor Talba, opened fire on the passengers and injured Halima Bashir Adam Arbab (50). The gunmen then ransacked the passengers’ luggage in search of money and mobile phones, the witness added. Arbab later died of her injuries.Picture: Civilian transport – picture credit James Morton

The incident occurred on the road from Kass to Thur on Monday. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that 12 armed men on motorcycles ambushed the truck in Khor Talba, opened fire on the passengers and injured Halima Bashir Adam Arbab (50).

Arbab later died of her injuries.
