‘Militiaman repeatedly rapes young Darfuri woman’: Witnesses
A young woman has allegedly been raped by an armed militiaman in the Duma area in Marshang locality, South Darfur. Two other women managed to escape. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that a militiaman riding a camel attacked three women on Tuesday, as they were tending their farm. While two women managed to escape, the gunman captured one 17-year-old woman. He allegedly raped her repeatedly during the day. The other two women reported the matter to the police. A source said that a force drawn from the police and the army “moved to the scene and exchanged fire with an individual militiaman”. His camel was killed but the suspect himself escaped on foot.
