Curfew for motorcycles in South Darfur
In a crime-prevention move, the Governor of South Darfur, Major General Adam Mahmoud Jar Al Nabi has issued an order banning the movement of all kinds of motorcycles from 7pm till 7am with the exception of rickshaws in Nyala, the state capital. Owners of motorcycles and other vehicles without a number plate have been given an ultimatum to register their vehicles with the traffic authorities as soon as possible. The governor also vowed to seriously deter what he called “outlaws who are terrorising the residents of Nyala”, considering “the instability of the security situation in the city a matter of utmost importance”. The chief of police of South Darfur, Major General Ahmed Osman, has announced that the police will carry out searches for criminal elements within the districts of Nyala.
