‘Abu Tira’ troops and militiamen rape three women, terrorise Tabit in North Darfur

In Tabit town, North Darfur, militiamen and members of the Central Reserve Forces (known as Abu Tira) have allegedly raped three young women. Sources told Radio Dabanga that the three women (15, 17 and 21) were taken by the perpetrators at gunpoint on Wednesday evening. The same sources told Radio Dabanga that since last Friday, forces stationed in Tabit, consisting of Abu Tira and militiamen heb been indiscriminately firing machine guns and cannons in all directions.”The firing continued all week until Thursday, causing panic and fear among the citizens, and preventing them from leaving their houses to go to their farms in order to harvest. The sources also said that the same forces terrorise the citizens of Tabit by robbing them of their belongings.
