Hamar-Ma’aliya clashes displace more than 2,000: OCHA

A preliminary report by a national organisation operating in Adila locality, East Darfur, announced in that an estimated 1,500 people (about 300 families) have arrived in the town of Sharif in East Darfur, near to the border of West Kordofan.   The people fled their homes following armed clashes between the Ma’aliya and Hamar tribes in West Kordofan near the border with East Darfur on 5 December. Another estimated 600 people (120 families) from the Hamar tribe reportedly arrived in Abu Jabra town in East Darfur. Their exact needs are yet to be determined, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan reported in its latest weekly bulletin. According to reports received by the UN, the fighting between the two tribes in the Um Deibun area in West Kordofan resulted in a total of 38 casualties.
