Thirst as drinking water hits almost $9 a barrel in East Darfur
The people living in the areas of El Nabag and El Hoda in Adila locality, East Darfur, have been suffering from a severe drinking water crisis for the last four days. One of the residents of El Hoda told Radio Dabanga that the water pumps are broken and that the workers of the Water Corporation have gone on strike because of non-payment of their salaries for eight months. “The price of a barrel of water from the commercial water company has risen to an unaffordable SDG50 ($8,70),” the resident complained. He appealed through Radio Dabanga to the East Darfur state authorities to act and solve the potable water problem, and to pay the Water Corporation workers their salaries.
