Vaccines destroyed by fire in West Darfur capital
Substantial stocks of vaccines were destroyed in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the immunisation office in El Geneina, capital of West Darfur. Mubarak Adam Abakar, director of immunisation in West Darfur told Radio Dabanga that the fire destroyed the entire stock kept in cold storage, including routine vaccinations. He stressed that the polio campaign that was launched this week, was not affected, because those vaccines had already been distributed to the state localities. Official sources said that preliminary investigations indicate an electrical fault as the cause of the fire.
