Security confiscates Cultural Forum’s property, eastern Sudan
The security apparatus in eastern Sudan closed the El Shurooq Cultural Forum in Gedaref city on Tuesday evening. The security forces confiscated the property of the Forum members. A statement by the Forum released on Wednesday said that a security apparatus force led by Lt. M’awya Mohamed Saleh stormed the headquarters of the Forum. It confiscated the property of the Forum, and the personal property of Jafar Khadr, member of the executive committee. The confiscation took place shortly before the beginning of a discussion of a book titled ‘Development and sustainable peace in eastern Sudan’. The statement signed by the executive committee of the Forum added that it “would take all peaceful means to preserve the rights to practice activities in Gedaref”.
