Student tortured for 18 hours in Central Darfur
Elements of the Military Intelligence abducted and beat a university student for nearly a day, together with the looting of a thousand Sudanese pounds from a merchant, in Nierteti South camp for the displaced, Central Darfur, on Wednesday. One of the relatives of Rasheed Mohamed Adam told Radio Dabanga that elements of the Military Intelligence on a Land Cruiser came at about 9pm to buy cigarettes from the brother of Rasheed, who owns a cigarette shop in the camp. When Rasheed, student at the University of Zalingei, told he had no cigarettes, the elements beat him and lift him in their car. When his mother tried to rescue him, they beat her with the butts of their guns, and punched her in the face. The elements then took Rasheed to their headquarters where they beat and tortured him for 18 hours, to only release him at 12pm on Thursday.
