Child killed, villagers injured in North Darfur air raid

A child was killed and his mother, brother, and others injured in an air raid on a North Darfur village, 10km northwest of the town of Alliet Jarelnabi. The spokesman for Darfur’s joint rebel forces, Adam Saleh Abakar, told Radio Dabanga that at 11am on Thursday, an Antonov dropped five bombs on the village of Um Ridim Shatta. The raid led to the death of a five-year-old child Adam Salah Kasheer and 55 year old Aisha Ibrahim Bishara. The dead child’s three-year-old brother Mohamed Salah Kasheer was wounded, as was their mother Tihani Abdallah. The other injured included a village midwife Um Sabil Abdallah Suleiman, Hassan As’ad El Tayeb, Sadiga Musa Barima, Sa’ida Ibrahim Bishara (sister of deceased Eisha), and Hanuna Dokar. Several houses were also laid waste by the raid. Saleh laid responsibility for the attack at the door of what he termed ‘the National Congress gang’ which he said constantly targets unarmed civilians.’Joint resistance forces’The Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) led by Abdel Wahid El Nur, the SLM faction under the command of Minni Minawi, and the Liberation Movement for Justice led by Taher Hajar and commanded in the field by Ali Karbino are since recently cooperating in Darfur under the name of the “Darfur joint resistance forces”.
