European Parliament delegation to visit Sudan
A delegation composed of members of the European Parliament Development Committee will visit Khartoum from 25th-27th March 2014. The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan announced today that a delegation from the European Parliament will visit Khartoum from 25th-27th March 2014. The members of the European Parliament Development Committee will exchange views with their Sudanese counterparts and other Sudanese officials. The visiting delegation will meet also with Sudanese civil society organisations, and representatives of local and international agencies and organisations working in Sudan to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the country in the area of humanitarian affairs and development issues. Ambassador Tomas Ulicny, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan described the visit as important because the European Parliament is a key player in promotion and monitoring of the development and cooperation policy of the Union. He added that the European Union contributes the lion share of global development aid. The current EU assistance in Sudan is focused on poverty eradication in the sectors of education, health and food security. The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan announced today that a delegation from the European Parliament will visit Khartoum from 25th-27th March 2014. The members of the European Parliament Development Committee will exchange views with their Sudanese counterparts and other Sudanese officials.
The visiting delegation will meet also with Sudanese civil society organisations, and representatives of local and international agencies and organisations working in Sudan to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the country in the area of humanitarian affairs and development issues.
