Militiamen resume assaults on South Darfur camp residents

The residents of El Salam camp for the displaced in Bielel locality, South Darfur, complain about being assaulted by militiamen on the streets. “Government-backed militiamen have resumed their assaults against the displaced. The gunmen have erected tents on Nyala road, and other roads near the capital. Other militiamen also deployed in the region have resumed their assaults on the displaced when they leave the camp. The camp residents cannot go out shopping, or fetching firewood or straw,” sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya of El Salam camp told Radio Dabanga. “The latest attack took place on Sunday, when gunmen beat and whipped 13 displaced. They stole the vehicle they were in. El Salam camp resident Abakar Mohamed Jamilallah was abducted.
