More than 16,000 displaced from Darfur’s Jebel Marra still without shelter

The number of newly displaced persons who fled from East Jebel Marra to Tawila locality in North Darfur has reached 16,700. A camp sheikh of the Dali camp for the displaced in Tawila locality told Radio Dabanga that representatives of 20 humanitarian organisations visited Tawila locality last Friday to assess the conditions of the newly displaced who fled from the areas around Tarny, Fanga, Kunjara, Taliba, Um Burma, and Kujma in East Jebel Marra. “The newly displaced are still living in the open, under the trees, near the Argo, Dali, and Rwanda camps. The organisations’ representatives conducted an inventory and registered 16,700 newly displaced. They pledged to provide water, food, shelter, and medicines within the coming days.” File photo: Newly displaced at Kalma camp in South Darfur.
