DRA stresses importance of signatories for peace in Darfur
The Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) has affirmed the importance of the participation of the signatory movements of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) in the dialogue with the political forces to reach a way out of the current crisis in the country. The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reports that this emerged from a meeting held in Al-Fasher between the Assistant-Chairman of DRA and Deputy-Chairman of the Military Affairs of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), Yassin Yousif Abdulrahman, and the Commissioner of Security Arrangements of the Signatory Movement of Doha Agreement, Taj El Sir Abdulrahman. The meeting discussed the progress of work and the preparations at Domaya camp, urging the signatory movements to be ready to start implementation of the security arrangements especially that the security arrangements are of concern to all the participants in Abuja meeting as well as Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) and Sudan Liberation Movement (General Command). Meanwhile, Assistant of the Chairman of DRA met with leaderships of the Liberation and Justice Movement in South Darfur and called on them to be ready for the security arrangements implementation. “The leaders of the movement have welcomed this important step which assures bias of the Armed Forces to the peace option,” the SUNA report concludes.
