North Darfur logistics laid-low since Sunday
The flow of goods, commodities, and movement of commercial lorries and passenger buses between El Fasher and Kutum in North Darfur has stopped since Sunday. The reason is the ‘royalties and levies’ imposed by militiamen along the road linking the two towns. Activists told Radio Dabanga that this has led to price increases in the towns, and shortages, especially of vegetables to be sold in El Fasher. They appealed via Radio Dabanga to the state government to immediately intervene and remove the militias’ illegal toll gates and collection points.
