South Darfur judicial staff arrested after heist
Sudanese Security Services have arrested three employees of the judicial authority of South Darfur in the aftermath of an armed robbery last Thursday, during which gunmen made off with a SDG2.2 million ($386,000) payroll in Nyala. The cash, destined to pay the salaries of judges and staff of the judicial authority, was being transferred from the Bank of Sudan to the headquarters of the judicial authority in the centre of the South Darfur capital. A source told Radio Dabanga that the new teller revealed that he found a deficit of SDG 2.1 million during an inventory of the judiciary treasury. The three workers who were arrested are the Finance Director for the judicial branch, the teller and one of the workers of the Judiciary.
