Concerns over school drop-out rate in Darfur, incentives for medics
The members of the States Council have revealed that 80 percent of youths from Darfur and South Kordofan are school drop-outs, warning that the phenomenon might continue growing. Firdaus Abdulrahman Yusuf, the Secretary of Health Affairs at the Darfur Regional Authority has appealed to medical general practitioners in Sudan to move to work in the hospitals in Darfur to fill the gap, particularly in the localities of Rahad El Berdi, Buram, and Ed El Fursan, promising that her ministry would provide incentives for the general practitioners and improve the working environment in the rural hospitals.File photo: School children in Darfur (Albert González Farran / Unamid)
