Health services deteriorating in Gireida camps, South Darfur

Residents of the Gireida camps in South Darfur complain about deteriorating health services and a lack of medicines. “The new organisation that replaced Merlin, the health organisation that was expelled in April, is operating only three health centres and two mobile clinics for the five Gireida camps for the displaced. Merlin had opened eight health centres”, a displaced woman from Abdos camp reported to Radio Dabanga. “Three health centres are not enough for the 132,000 registered people in the camps, besides the 65,000 displaced who have not been officially registered yet.” She appealed to organisations working in the field of health to provide medicines, and open extra health centres and clinics in the camps.
